The DJI MINI 2 is one of the best drones you can buy right from the start. But now the new bright star from Hubsan, the Zino MINI plus, has arrived. Is his position as the king of the drone mountain under 250 grams at risk? ZINO Mini plus vs. comparison guide Our DJI MINI 2 covers range, battery life, camera performance, and additional functions.
Weight and Battery Life
Let’s start by confirming that this Zino drone actually weighs less than 250 grams and it has been officially confirmed that it is the 249-gram live stream we saw from the Hubsan team presenting the drone (more on this why this was a glitch later).
They actually managed to show that the drone was suspended in the air for 42 minutes (inside) so it’s true that the Zino Mini’s battery life is 40 minutes of flight time, which is pretty amazing and definitely above what the DJI Mini 2 can do.
Although both come with UHD cameras, there are significant differences between the two. The 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor on the DJI Mavic MINI 2 can take 12 MP photos. Its rival Hubsan has a 1/2.3 е sensor that finishes photos with a resolution of 48 MP. The larger sensor should offer better low-light performance and the ability to shoot at a wider angle.
In terms of video resolution, both are capable of recording 4K video at up to 30 frames per second. This is where a higher video bitrate makes a difference. The Hubsan Zino 2+ Plus doubles the 100Mbps bit rate of the MINI 2. The Zino MINI has 6 times the magnification, the Mavic MINI 2 is only 4 times.
Both are advertised with flights with a maximum distance of 10 km. The DJI MINI 2 uses OcuSync 2.0 communication and Hubsan Zino MINI Syncleas 3.0 transmissions.
DJI offers different capacities/ranges for the US and Europe. The FCC edition has a range of 10 km and the CE version only 6 km. With Hubsan you can of course work at full power regardless of your geographic location. This can be a big problem if you want to comply with local radio frequency regulations.
The main selling point of the Hubsan Zino MINI plus is the 3-way obstacle avoidance system. This is a must-have if you use active tracking (follow me visually). It certainly won’t protect you 100% from crashes, but it’s a lot better than just flying blindly.
Either of the two drones you choose will do a lot. Both are equipped with a 4K @ 30fps camera and weigh less than 250 g (0.55 lbs), so you can fly legally in most countries without special registration. While the MINI 2 comes from the most famous brands, the ZINO MINI plus has many other features. You have to decide whether you need a more reliable product or with the best specifications.
