Remember when quadcopters were only for the military or those that had a lotta money to spend, ah good old times. Quadcopters nowadays are becoming a part of our everyday lives, as the trend doesn’t seem to be going down anytime soon. They were once sold at very high rates, but now, they can be gotten for as low as a few hundreds of dollars.

Fine, we all want one as they are becoming a trendy topic plus who wouldn’t want to play spy? They might seem like toys but a height quality drone is actually a serious investment as in personally have flown quite a few of them. With their sophisticated camera to the unique accelerometers and also their integrated GPS system, they’ve become classy and the high demand for these drones don’t seem to alter their quality. Their small size and superb maneuverability make them enjoyable both indoors and outdoors.

Today I’ll be talking about the GDU O2 quadcopter, a slick quadcopter which caught my eye during international drone conference and expedition which was held in Vegas, Nevada. Not only have they released a direct competitor to the DJI Mavic, they’ve also released a quadcopter that’s pretty light too the first thing. I was over overwhelmed at how light the device was, it isn’t as light as a feather but it was sure damn light enough to be carried around without any hassle. It even looks neat in its folded state as there are no blades protruding like other devices I’ve handled. It looks like a brick when folded with the controller.

Amazing features

The GDU O2 features a 4k 3axis motion camera which currently holds a record as one of the smallest 3 axis stabilized camera with the 4k mode. This would allow you capture smooth and amazing videos and images of your environment. It is also equipped with an obstacle avoidance system which will detect when it’s near an obstacle or object and warns the user. With modes like pocket mode, drone mode, timelapse, circle mode, burst shooting mode, and smart video you’ll never get bored of using this device.

Special and advanced skills

One neat feature that caught my eye was the gesture mode which allowed the drone to take pictures of me when making specific gestures, and also the ability of the quadcopter to land when specific gestures were made. It is important to note that this quadcopter comes in two variants the GDU O2 and the GDU O2 plus with the difference boiling down to two things which are: storage 16 GB and 32 and also the WiFi band 2.3GHz and 5GHz bands respectively to make the device cover more grounds without you needing to follow. They both have a 20 minute battery to keep the fun alive and can fly as fast as 35.6mph and climb up to 1/2mph. The onboard Qualcomm 801 snapdragon gives it the beastly power it’ll need to perform its task. It is also important to note that this device can be used without its remote as an android or an iOS-powered device can control it through the dedicated app.
